Study in Svalbard
James Holtom, BSc Geography (Physical)
"Svalbard gave me so much in a relatively short time. The work was intensive and
hard but never uninteresting; when you have the very best scientists in their
field teaching with enthusiasm it's very hard to be uninspired. In my free time
I went skiing, ice caving, on trips to the student cabins, played sports against
the Russian mining base of Barentsburg, organised the student equipment and looked
after some huskies!"
Sam Barber, BSc Geography (Physical)
Sam spent three months of his third year (2005) studying at the The University
Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), an International Research Platform located in the
high Arctic at 78 deg North - Europe's northernmost territory, through a
departmental Erasmus exchange programme with the University of Bergen, Norway.
