Application Process

Enquiries, in the first instance should be made at your department. Your departmental study abroad coordinator should be able to inform you about suitable host institutions, assist you in finding The US Flag appropriate modules and ensuring that any programme of study will be acceptable as part of your degree programme at Reading.

Please note that there will be an application deadline, so the earlier you start the process the better.

Broadly speaking we advise that you:

  • Contact the departmental study abroad coordinator in your department to find out if as part of your degree it is possible for you to study abroad, and if so if there are any particular exchanges

  • Check the departmental notice board for any meetings regarding ERASMUS or study abroad (often in Autumn term)

  • Check your department’s web-site to see which institutions they have exchanges with, and then look them up on the website.

  • Discuss study abroad with your personal tutor

  • Complete a Learning Agreement - all outgoing students need to have a Learning Agreement approved by their Department(s) before permission to study abroad can be given.

  • Attain departmental approval from departmental coordinator

  • Inform Reading International Office of where you would like to go

  • Complete the application forms, normally downloadable from the host institution

  • Provide a copy of your application material and Learning Agreement to the Reading International Office.
