Learning Agreement
A Learning Agreement is a contract between
the student, the home institution and the host institution. You should list all the modules you
intend or expect to attend, together with their ECTS value (include any work and
credit value of work carried out for The University of Reading).
The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
expresses the value allocated to modules reflecting the workload required to
complete them. 60 ECTS is the value of a full academic year's work, 40 ECTS for
6 months (2 terms), 20 ECTS for a study period of 3 months (one term). Once
completed you need the signatures of your department Erasmus
Coordinator and the Erasmus Institutional Coordinator. If you are on a joint
degree programme you should ensure both departments are in agreement with your
module selection.
If you study abroad programme is outside
the Erasmus scheme (USA, Australia etc) please seek advice regarding credits
through the ISAO.
Once your proposed work schedule has been
agreed by Reading, you need to send the Learning Agreement to the host
institution, in order that they can confirm these choices are available. It is
often the case that changes need to be made after your arrival at the host
institution. You must get the approval of your home departmental
coordinator and a final signed version should be sent to the Institutional
coordinator. It is essential that the International & Study Abroad Office hold a
copy of your Learning Agreement.
Please bear in mind that there is no
teaching in the Summer Term, so make sure you know exactly how you are going to
accumulate your full-years credits (120 CATS/60 ECTS for undergraduate)
before your study period commences.
